Cine Conversion to Quicktime files for you edit on an Apple computer.
This service is for clients who wish to edit their cine on their own iMac, Macbook or other Apple based computer before outputting to DVD for viewing or a final format for long term storage. Quicktime (.mov) files are approximately 900MB per 50ft or 13GB per 800ft/1 hour supplied as 720 x 576i. We supply each reel as one file appropriately named, we also tidy and join electronically if needed to make it easier for you.
We can transfer all film formats, 16mm, Super 8 and Standard 8 to editable Quicktime files including the sound if present.
The files can edited in iMovie, Final Cut or other edit system that can use QT (.mov) files.
QT files are very large and you will need to supply a portable USB 2 or Firewire 400/800 hard disc drive or a USB stick of sufficient size. We can transfer to DVD data discs but please note that each DVD will only hold about 200ft of film and there is a charge of £10 per DVD data disc after the first one due to the time needed to burn each disc.
We request that the hard drive is supplied to us at the same time as the material to be transferred and be clean and formatted for Apple.
The storage medium should have 13GB free for every 800ft/hour of QT files to be transferred.
VAT inclusive rates are on the Transfer Costs page
Please note that we do not alter the appearance of the original cine for clients who opt for QT files as you cannot change alterations carried out by us.
Editing advice:- Subtle enhancements work best, sharpen slightly, small changes to brightness and contrast and experiment with colour enhancement if necessary.
